The Cardiff and Vale Education Harp Ensemble has been running over 30 years, historically performing at St David’s Hall. Eluned Henry is the Musical Director. She has arranged various scores for the Ensembles and has published several music arrangements.

The children are from Primary and Senior Schools in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and range from 7 to18 years old.

The requirements for joining the Ensemble is a minimum of Grade 1 standard or above. Levers and pedal harps are acceptable for the Ensemble.

The ensemble was chosen recently to perform at the Music Youth Festival in Birmingham and some of Eluned’s students have won the Urdd Eisteddfod Harp competition and the Gwyl Cerdd Dant.

The ensemble is an opportunity for harpists to get together and have fun playing on stage!

Conductor Biography

Eluned Henry

Eluned studied the harp at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and graduated with distinction. She then completed the Advanced Performers Course.

She has pursued a varied career ranging from teaching pupils and students to recital performances at concerts, weddings and bespoke functions. Eluned also teaches and plays the piano. She has performed to several members of the Royal Family and is part of a Harp & Flute Duo ‘Mwynion Mai’ with flautist Jane Groves. The duo have recorded a CD and many musical scores for a selection of Welsh Melodies, which the duo arranged themselves. Eluned is also one of the resident harpists at Cardiff Castle has also been in the fortunate position to have played at many varied functions at Royal Air Force stations.
